Greetings from the Department of Zoology. The undergraduate Department of Zoology of Mar Athanasius College (Autonomous), Kothamangalam started its journey in the year of 1955.  Ever since its inception, many eminent professors had rendered their service to this department. Most of them are actively involving all the new endeavours of this department till date. We have a vibrant team of highly qualified faculty members they do excel both in academic and co-curricular activities. Most of the faculty members are actively participating in research and development activities. The department has excellent lab facilities, a well-maintained museum and many sophisticated equipment suitable for academic and research purposes. The faculty members have completed many major and minor externally funded research projects and two minor projects are ongoing. The students are routinely trained for entrepreneur development activities like Bee keeping, aquaculture vermiculture etc. The Department has been selected under star college Scheme of the DBT, India Government. The Zoology curriculum is combined with hands on training, field studies and equipment training for motivating the undergraduate students and inculcating academic and research aptitude. Each year our students carry out individual degree projects utilising our own lab facilities in a very successful manner. Most of our pass out students go for higher studies. We do regularly organise student friendly activities like invited talks, institution visits, field studies etc.
