Dr. Smitha Thankachan have earned her MSc, MPhil, and PhD degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Cochin University of Science and Technology Kochi, and Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam, respectively. In 2005, she commenced her journey at Mar Athanasius College Kothamangalam as a Lecturer. Currently Dr. Thankachan is serving as the Dean of Administration and Head of the Department of Physics. Dr.Thankachan has published two books, two book chapters, and 20 journal papers. In addition to her academic contributions, Dr.Thankachan has actively undertaken various administrative roles within the institution. She has served as the Chief Warden of the hostel, RUSA Coordinator, Academic and Governing Council member and Board of Studies member at Mar Athanasius College Kothamangalam.
Research interest includes nano composite materials exhibiting catalytic and energy harvesting properties. Published two Books,two Book Chapters and 20 Journal papers.Currently serviing as Principal Investigator of a major research project funded by SERB and a minor project funded by MA College Association.
