Parvathy Biju (2021-24 Batch)-MA Sociology, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram

I had the privilege of being a student in the Department of Sociology at Mar Athanasius College, Kothamangalam, during the academic years 2021–2024. Looking back on my time at this esteemed institution, I can confidently say that it has been one of the most transformative journeys of my life. I was welcomed into an environment that nurtured my intellectual curiosity and personal growth. The Sociology Department provided me with a strong academic foundation, equipping me with the knowledge and critical thinking skills essential for understanding society and its complexities. In addition to the core subjects, the curriculum also included value-added courses such as Child Supporting and Mentoring and Sociology of Health and Nutrition, which broadened my understanding and helped me develop practical skills in these areas. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my teachers, Dr. Diana Mathews, Dr. Mridula Venugopal, and Dr. Akhila Johnson, who guided me throughout this journey. Their dedication, encouragement, and invaluable insights played a crucial role in shaping my academic and personal growth. Their mentorship not only helped me excel in my studies but also inspired me to approach learning with curiosity and passion. Beyond academics, my time at Mar Athanasius College played a crucial role in shaping the individual I am today. The vibrant campus life, engaging discussions, and opportunities for extracurricular activities allowed me to develop confidence, leadership skills, and a deeper sense of social responsibility. The friendships and memories I made here will always remain close to my heart. As I step into the next phase of my journey, I carry with me the invaluable lessons and experiences gained at this institution. I am deeply grateful to my teachers, peers, and everyone who contributed to making my time at Mar Athanasius College so enriching and meaningful.
