Sharon Vincent (2019-22 Batch)- MA in Development Policy, Planning and Practice, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Maharashtra

My journey at M.A College commenced in 2019 as a Sociology undergraduate. It proved to be a transformative experience, opening my eyes to the vast opportunities within Social Sciences. Despite my earlier focus on Science during school, my interest in Social Sciences persisted. Initially skeptical about its future prospects, my perception shifted during my bachelor's at M.A College. I discovered the significance of Arts and developed a profound love for social science.Transitioning from a newcomer to the topper in Arts, I attribute my success to the unwavering guidance, love, and support from the teachers, family, and peers at MA College. Coming from a Science background, adapting my approach to Arts required a signiifcant shift. Dr. Diana Mathews and Dr. Mridula Venugopal, my Sociology guides, played a pivotal role in my improvement. Their feedback and suggestions fostered critical thinking and excellence in the field. Ultimately, this journey led me to pursue my current Master's programme at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Tuljapur Campus (School of Rural Development), specializing in Development Policy, Planning, and Practice. Undoubtedly, I carry the lessons from them into my endeavours at TISS and beyond. My advice to students is to acknowledge the immense opportunities and career advancements in both Arts and Science. For anyone harbouring even the slightest interest in Social Sciences, MA College, with its exceptional mentors, extensive library, and conducive learning environment, is poised to nurture and propel that interest to greater heights.
